Chicago Tour Journal

We leave tomorrow, and we have been running around non-stop all day. But, we have t-shirts, and the van has a new stereo. What more do we need?

I've got three pairs of black jeans, 8 pairs of boxers and a bag of chocolate chip cookies! Chicago here we come... and then off to the Windy City...hee hee.

I am so tired right now, but WTF, we’re on tour. We are outside of Colorado, and I can see snow all over the mountains up ahead. Oh crap, it’s going to be cold!!!!

Last night was our first show, and it was quite the ass-kicker. Everyone played well, we sold some merch, and had a good time hanging with the Haggis and StereoChrome guys.

And then we had to deal with getting the Van started at 2 am. We’ve been driving since 3am this morning and should arrive in Denver @5:30pm! How’s that for the glamorous life?

So the first long haul of our tour – we’re on a hellish 16 hour drive to Denver, but so far it’s been a great adventure.

We had a great show last night and my good friend Morgan hooked us up with showers at her place after the show so we didn’t stink too bad in the van. Well, MOST of us anyway

The show tonite should be fun – we’re just keeping our fingers crossed that the van is nice to us for the rest of the trip…

Other than already wanting to fire all of the other Downs in favor of studio musicians, the tour is going just fine. Last night’s show is still making me smile.

Hopefully it is just a sign of things to come with the rest of the shows. We’ve been driving for 21of the last 26 hours.

I can’t wait to shower again, and dental scientists have yet to design a toothbrush with the power necessary to clean my teeth.

Also, Garner is sneezing much more than anyone would like him to…I’m sensing an impending “Lord of the Flies”-type excommunication for Mr.K.

For the first time in 2 days we got to sleep in an actual bed last night! Our friend, Paul, was the MAN! He let us stay at his place and brought out all his peeps to the show!!

Whew. Now we’re almost in Lincoln, Nebraska and I’ve smelled more cow poop than I ever thought possible. And being on the road, I just wanted a steak every time we passed those cows…Mmmmm.

At what point do we realize that our van hates us? I think that at the very least it dislikes one of us…Probably Garner…I mean, c’mon…join the club!

HAPPY EASTER, everybody!We’ve got two Tower record in-stores & a stellar Hard Rock Café show under our collective band belt.Our base of operations in Chicago is at our good friends Tom & Ameake’s.

I don’t think that the Chicago Hard Rock Café show could have gone any better…we saw a ton of old friends, and set a new record for selling our merch. The new T-shirts look great, and people were really excited about our show...

Our van is in the shop AGAIN! We rented a van because some engine part nearly fell out of the Blue Bomber a block before our 1st Chicago gig. UGH! BIG thanks to Sarah & Jimmie for saving our asses & helping haul our gear!

It sure seems as if the van gods hate us…today is Easter, and I’m hoping for an automotive resurrection..

Last night was our final show of the US leg, and my birthday! Jimmie and Sarah gave me the coolest birthday cake I've ever seen! On the cake was a picture of KISS w/ our faces super-imposed! It was sooo rad! And the show rocked, too.

The van's supposed to be fixed tomorrow and we should be on our way! Hopefully, we'll be out of the Windy City before the big snow storm that's supposed to come in hits us. Boy, do I ever miss the L.A. sunshine...
